Capturing Avatar is a feature length behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Avatar. It uses footage from the film's development, as well as stock footage from as far back as the production of Titanic in 1995. Also included are numerous interviews with cast, artists, and other crew members. The documentary was released as a bonus feature on the extended collector's edition of Avatar.

50년 전, 트루마이트브리 산에서 연구를 하던 닥터 위로는 영구 빙벽에 묻히게 된다. 부하 닥터 코친은 드래곤볼에 소원을 빌어 영구 빙벽을 녹여서 닥터 위로를 부활시킨다. 그 후 뇌만 남은 닥터 위로라는 과학자가 지상 최강의 몸을 얻기 위해 암약한다는 내용이다. 닥터 위로는 오랫동안 빙하에 묻혀 있었던 관계로 처음에는 과거에 무술의 신으로 추앙받았던 무천도사의 몸을 노리지만, 무천도사는 옛날에 세계 최강 자리에서 은퇴했고 지금은 손오공이 최강이라는 말에 오공을 노리게 된다.
