루팡 5인방이 어떤 경유로 만나게 되었는지를 다루는 작품. 물론 원작에서도 드문드문 나오는 소재이기 때문에 원작과의 설정충돌이 일어나는 경우도 있다. 이전 루팡시리즈에서 사용되었던 씬들의 오마쥬격 씬들도 사용되었다. 이시카와 고에몽과 루팡의 고속도로 결투씬, 루팡 3세(1기 TV시리즈) 1화의 라스트 대사 '배신은 여자의 악세사리같은 거야' 등이 그것.
