This Hour Has 22 Minutes is a weekly Canadian television comedy that airs on CBC Television. Launched in 1993 during Canada's 35th general election, the show focuses on Canadian politics, combining news parody, sketch comedy and satirical editorials. Originally featuring Cathy Jones, Rick Mercer, Greg Thomey and Mary Walsh, the series featured satirical sketches of the weekly news and Canadian political events. Porridge is a British situation comedy broadcast on BBC1 from 1974 to 1977, running for three series, two Christmas specials and a feature film also titled Porridge. Written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, it stars Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale as two inmates at the fictional HMP Slade in Cumberland. "Doing porridge" is British slang for serving a prison sentence, porridge once being the traditional breakfast in UK prisons. The series was followed by a 1978 sequel, Going Straight, which established that Fletcher would not be going back to prison again. Porridge was voted number seven in a 2004 BBC poll of the 100 greatest British sitcoms.

린치의 영화와 마찬가지로 1부의 이야기를 다루고 있지만 연출이나 구성에 있어서 훨씬 낫다는 평가를 받는다. 또한 비쥬얼면에서 1984년판과는 원작에 대한 상당히 다른 해석을 보여준다. 그외에 세세한 부분의 디테일이 다르다. 팬들 사이에서는 미니 시리즈 쪽이 원작에 더욱 충실하다는 평. 의상은 영화 《아마데우스》의 의상담당이 맡았는데 제국주의 시대를 연상시키는 제복들은 미래적인 복장으로 바뀌었다. 특히 스틸슈트는 원작의 묘사에 상당히 충실해졌다. 형태뿐만 아니라 1984년작에서는 검정색(사막복인 스틸슈트를 검정색으로 하는 건 오류가 있다.)이었던 것에 비해 아이보리색으로 바뀌었다. 그리고 원작에서 스틸슈트 위에 로브를 입는 것도 재현되었다. 스토리 역시 원작에 충실하며 원작의 방대한 내용을 표현하기 위해 한편에 1시간 29분으로 총 3편으로 만들었다. 평은 좋은 편이나 미니시리즈로서의 한계가 나타나는데 저예산 TV시리즈로 제작되었기 때문에 어쩔 수 없다. 사이파이 채널자체가 저예산으로 고퀄러티 작품을 뽑아서 사업규모를 크게 하는 전문회사이다. 의외로 미국 케이블 시장에서는 꽤 악명높은 업체. 하지만 액션은 생각보다 괜찮다. 특히 일대일 결투가 볼만하다. 그리고 방어막의 표현이 84년작보다 훨씬 더 진보한 것은 기술의 발전을 느끼게 한다. 고작 예산 2000만불로 4시간 30분짜리 드라마를 이 정도 만들었다는 걸 감안해보면 용하다.
